Hey All,
I’m starting this year really hopeful. I’m 12-16 pages into writing issue 2 of THIS IMMORTAL COIL. I’m really excited on what you’ll all see. While I don’t have an exact time from for the the relaunch of issue 1, I think it might be around March if all goes well. Just got an update while writing this from Julio. He estimates he should be done by end of this month. So that is on track.
As far as other comic news, I got asked by Luke Henderson to contribute to a ‘zine (A zine is a self-published, small-edition work that's usually reproduced via photocopier. It's short for "fanzine") which will be offered to early backers of a future Kickstarter. Here’s a sneak peek of my contribution.
I just came up with an idea for a new story that still needs time to grow and be refined but I’ll leave you just the name—Project Sidescroller.
As far as family updates, everything is really good. Kids are getting back to school after their 2 week-long break. My wife and I are good as well. I recently got a opportunity for a new day job. It doesn’t replace my current job, more like a side-hustle but it has the possibility to be better in the long run, training starts next week. Its going to be intense for a few months.
During the time of writing this, our power was knocked out for about 40 hours due to the high winds and the fires. Luckily we were safe from danger. On to the goals.
Goals for 2025
Get issue 1 of This Immortal Coil funded
Get issue 1 of This Immortal Coil to the printers
Get issue 1 of This Immortal Coil in peoples hands and devices
Get my “To-Read” pile back in control
Get production started on issue 2 of This Immortal Coil (finalizing the script after edits and into Julio’s hands)
Draw 10 sequential pages
Plot out Project Sidescroller
Maybe co—write with another creator (hit me up)
Also I’d like to draw your attention to a project that is super close to funding from a friend, Ian Mondrick
From the kickstarter page:
MONGOOSE: THE UNCONVENTIONAL ART OF JOSEPH MONDRICK collects nearly 40 years of art across 150 beautifully reproduced black and white pages. Intercut with passages of remembrance from close friends and family, this book is both a touching tribute and a compelling dive into the mind of an unsung talent.
Talk to you all later,
-Luis
Glad you and the family made out okay, bud.
